Roxy (Kuskokwim Odyssey) was daughter of my search dog Sardy. I didn’t mean to keep a pup, but when puppy buyers arrived, I found myself hiding the adventurous one away – the one who disappeared in an instant, exploring the world while her littermates played or napped. She was my search partner with CARDA - and, alternating weeks with Sardy, my trail companion for two summers of Wilderness patrol on the Mokelumne; she and Sardy helped carry out quantities of hikers’ litter in their saddlebags.
